Nancy Noble

nancy nobleNancy Noble is a generational example of an exceptional athlete. High school tennis, track, and basketball, college tennis and softball, and amateur golf. Women of our vintage did it all. Nancy did it all, no specialization like we find in today’s athletes.
Within her teaching career for Ashland City Schools, Nancy transitioned into coach, mentor, and organizer, providing the young female athletes with a role model. Working with her mentor, George Valentine, the Ashland High School girls’ golf program was resurrected and an 18-hole tournament was started for the area high school girls. It just celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Nancy has consistently led her high school teams to District and Sectional championships and made trips to the state tournament.
Her personal golf history includes years of service and dedication to the Weiss Boys Invitational and the Ashland golf program. She has served as head coach for the girls’ golf team eight times. She is a long-time member of the Ohio High School Golf Coaches’ Association and the Greater Cleveland Golf Association, serving as President in 2006. Nancy was the Greater Cleveland champion in 2004, was Brookside Country Club Champion 16 times, Country Club of Ashland champ 11 times, and has 4 holes-in-one to her credit.

Ms. Noble began playing in WOSGA events in 1990 and became a “regular” as a contestant and assisted with our tournaments. When WOSGA took over the operation of the Ohio Junior Girls’ Championship in 2001, Nancy stepped up and helped. She took over the reins in 2003 and built a core of women who reflect her attitude. ATTITUDE!

When you review the list of Betty Peppard Award recipients, it’s the attitude of service and commitment to promoting golf for our young girls and women, to growing the game and making welcome a new generation of players who will have fun and have success on and off the golf course. Nancy Noble projects that attitude, walks the walk and talks the talk. That’s why she is a most deserving recipient of the Betty Kerby Peppard Award.
